Creativity through handcrafted limited sleepwear that features the artistry, craftsmanship and personality of the past while being respectful of Mother Nature is at the heart of every Girl on Sunday creation.

Hi, it's Me.
As a highly skilled procrastinator, it's fitting that I sat on the idea of a PJ brand for many moons before Girl on Sunday was born. She came to life in the summer of 2024 - a small seed of thing that quickly found her feet, and it's likely true that a part of me also came to life while crafting her.
Hi, I'm Sally, the girl behind the Girl.
Disillusioned by a lack of sleepwear that didn't scream 'pink', 'Pixar' or 'Disney', nor gave off a 'at one with earth' vibe, I set out to create a slow and small, locally 'made here in Melbourne' pyjama brand that offers vintage-inspired considered design with a moral and ethical approach to production.
Girl on Sunday has come to life with an environmentally-respectful approach that really has creativity at her heart. Each set is designed to be treasured from the moment you open the box through to the many years ahead.
Girl of Sunday is an extension of me that I am excited to share with you.

Locally Crafted
Melbourne has her heart, and so it was a natural fit that Girl on Sunday
be manufactured here. To produce off shore would be for the bottom line - profit, and while Girl on Sunday needs to survive and hopefully thrive, it cannot be to the detriment of others. While there are amazing artisans & crafters all over the world, off-shore presents its own unique set of challenges along with a lack of transparency that is crucial to the brand's responsibility. It also feels good to be one of 3% of fashion brands proudly
made in Australia.
Slow & Small
The backbone of Girl on Sunday is considered design that isn’t trend-led, but focuses on quality craftsmanship mixed with playful vintage-inspired styles that you can turn to time and time again. Each multipurpose piece has taken over 18 months to create: from design, drafting, sampling and fit through to production, and MOQs are small (<50 per design) to limit environmental impact. A commitment to transparency, quality, thoughtful details, and slow production are at the very heart of Girl on Sunday.
Responsibility
Girl on Sunday utilises deadstock fabrics as much as possible, along with OEKO-TEX 100 certified fabrics and natural fibres - sourced as close to home as possible.Trims are 100% natural cotton, buttons are made from resin, clothing labels are made from recycled materials, and plastic - from production studio through to packaging and labelling - is being avoided as much as possible. Further, working with a small team of local designers, producers, and suppliers allows for full transparency

My Nan - Betty
MY MUSES
My Nan - Elizabeth 'Betty' was-and-remains my biggest inspiration. Growing up on a dairy farm in country Victoria, a visit from my nan from Melbourne was literally the best times of my childhood. Before she came for a stay, we would have to go into town to buy her sherry and fruit bread - two of her favourites. She'd come loaded with presents and stories, we had tea parties, garden parties, and teddy bear picnics. She was a school teacher who never stopped teaching, and she taught me that anything is possible with a bit of determination.
I remember her funeral being the biggest funeral i'd ever been to (and still is) because it was filled with her past students - students who remembered her all those years later and came to honour her. It really made me think about the impact i'd have in my corner of the world, who would I leave enough of an impression on for them to show up at my funeral 45+ years later, and the legacy I'd leave behind.
She was Carrie before Carrie, living her life in city with her two best friends - Doris and Margaret, her sherry and cigarette late night gatherings and endless people coming and going. She introduced me to Anne of Green Gables amongst so many other things, but these are the standout memories of her. Truly a one off who I know would love to be wearing a pair of Girl on Sunday PJs right now.
